Bonita Pearl Vaughan Bell, 97, of Summersville, WV passed away in Summersville on Thursday, June 12, 2025. Born May 28, 1928 at Akron, OH, she was a daughter of the late Guy and Dainty Sims Vaughan. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Jackson “Jack” Bell; son, Charles Joe Bell; sister, Jean; and by her brother, Alex Vaughan.
She was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church in Summersville, had many years of service in the Nicholas County Tax Office; was a secretary at the Nicholas County High School, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution; a member of the Brown Oaks, and was a member of the Green Coats Royal Order of Leprechauns. Bonita was WVU’s #l fan. She attended 40 consecutive home football opening games. She also attended many professional sporting events including the World Series and MLB All-Star game. Bonita loved history and was an expert on Nicholas County family history. She loved traveling. She traveled to Europe, the Bahamas, took cruises and went all over the country. She loved visiting her son Scott in Florida and had many friends there.
Survivors include her son, Scott Bell of Cocoa Beach, FL; brother, John Dyer Vaughan of San Jose, CA.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 in the Memorial United Methodist Church at Summersville with Pastor Dan Lowther officiating. Interment will follow in the Walker Memorial Park at Summersville.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Grand Order of the Royal Leprechauns, an organization which provides community services and scholarships in Nicholas County. Friends may call at the White-Anderson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Summersville on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m.
