Carl David Hypes

     Carl David Hypes, 82 of Whitewater, WV went to be with the Lord Monday, September 22, 2025. He was born November 17, 1942 at Poe, WV to the late Garvis Hypes and Blanche McClung Hypes. Carl was proceeded in death by his brother Glen Hypes and two sisters Bertha Hypes Long and Opal Hypes Vickers.

     Survivors include the love of his life and wife of 62 years, Sue Hypes; 3 daughters Cindy (Gary) Bailes, Diane Hypes, and Carrie Miller all of Summersville, WV. 7 grandchildren Wesley Bailes, Cassie (Scott) Jordan, Justin (Deanna) Westfall, Rachel Westfall, Erica Westfall, Ashley (Kevin) Aaron, Haley Lively, and nine great-grandchildren. Three sisters Ocie (Charles) Long, Freda (Ralph) Bentley and Charlotte (Butch) Brown, many nieces and nephews, and a multitude of friends and loved ones.

     Carl was a retired coal miner, devout Christian, member of Pierson Chapel Community Church, and had a passion for playing and singing gospel and bluegrass music. His love for God was evident in the way he lived his daily life. Carl’s greatest hope would be to see all of his family and friends again in Heaven.

     Visitation services will be from 12:00pm - 2:00pm on Saturday September 27, 2025 at Pierson Chapel Community Church in Zela, WV. Funeral service to immediately follow with Pastors Mike Long and Arnold Nicholas officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of White-Anderson Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
