Carl Vickers Obituary

Carl Douglas Vickers, 77, of Kessler's Cross Lanes, WV went to his eternal home Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Peyton Hospice House in Lewisburg, WV after a long battle with cancer.

Carl was born on October 5, 1946, to John and Byrna Vickers at Kessler's Cross Lanes, WV.  He was a retired school bus operator, manager at Mountain Lake Campground, member of Zoar Baptist Church, and loved farming.

He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and loved the outdoors.  He was a voracious reader, and knew everything, from playing chess, to making molasses, to building his home with Delores.  Above all, he was a kind and supportive husband and father.

Carl is survived by his loving wife of fifty years Delores, two children - Jennifer (William) Decker of Lewisburg, WV and devoted son Jason (Rebecca) of Statesboro, GA.  He is also survived by brothers Raymon and David of Summersville, WV, three grandsons, one granddaughter, and numerous nieces and nephews.

It was Carl's wish for no services, and for cremation.  Both of those wishes have been honored.

We extend heartfelt gratitude to Peyton Hospice House in Lewisburg, along with all the hospice workers who helped care for Carl and his family in his final months, as well as the friends and family who offered support during his battle with cancer.  We also thank White-Anderson Funeral Home for their caring and support.
