Dakota “Cody” Hanks, 27, of Summersville, WV passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2024 in the WVU-Medicine Summersville Regional Medical Center after complications from pneumonia. Born April 14, 1997 at Beckley, he was a son Melissa Johnson Hanks and the late Samuel “Sam” Hanks. He was also preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Bonnie Johnson and by his paternal grandparents, Edward and Gladys Hanks.
He attended Zoar Baptist Church, enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and making everyone smile.
Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Melissa Hanks; sister, Kendra; companion, Christina and her daughter, Roni; grandfather, Buck Johnson; aunt, Jeannie (Mike) Grose; special uncle, Stevie Johnson; and a host of other friends, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 (noon) on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 in the White-Anderson Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor Eddie Green officiating. Interment will follow in the Arnett Church Cemetery on Panther Mountain Road near Drennen.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday one-hour prior to the funeral services.
