Danny "Mayor" Brown

Danny “Mayor” Michael Brown, 71, of Summersville, West Virginia, passed away peacefully, after losing his battle with cancer.  Born on March 8, 1954, Danny was the son of Robert Cecil Brown and Peggy Lorraine (Gray) Brown.

      Danny worked as a heavy equipment operator by trade; however, his true calling was his business. A local tavern “Mayors Place” located in the heart of Summersville. Over 41 years of friends, old and new, were brought joy from the spirits served and the hospitality of his wonderful establishment. “Mayor” was the life of every party and had a genuine love for people. His legacy will continue, and the lifelong relationships he built within the community will be cherished forever.

      Danny is survived by his two sons, Michael Brown (Holly) of Summersville, and Daniel Brown of Morgantown; and two daughters, Adrienne Brown of Morgantown, and Miranda Maisonet (Eric) of Summersville. He is also survived by grandchildren—his beloved Caileigh, Maxx, Miles, Katalina, and Madalynn. Additional survivors include three brothers, Robert “Bob” Brown (Kathy), Davey Brown (Debbie), and Pat Brown; one sister, Anna “Suzie” Hayes; along with several nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

      Graveside services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at Walker Memorial Park in Summersville with longtime friend Scott Stanton speaking. Interment will follow under the direction of the White-Anderson Funeral Home and Cremation Center.  Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday March 8, 2026, at Mayors Place, Summersville, WV.

      As Mayor would say, “Don’t let these clothes fool you, I got a little cash!” He loved telling stories of old times and never forgot anything! Summersville has lost a Legend!
