Deloris McCutcheon

Deloris McCutcheon, 85, of Canvas, WV passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, March 20, 2023 at her home.  Born January 15, 1938 at Sparks, WV she was a daughter of the late W. Bernard and Dainty C. Copenhaver Sparks.  She was also preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Arthur Kenneth “Curly” McCutcheon and by a brother, Roger Lee Sparks; and by a son-in-law, Brent Hughart and two special dogs, Hope and Grace.  

      She was a Baptist by faith and enjoyed working in her flowerbeds and spending precious time with her family.  She worked at Johnson’s Department Store for twenty years, but in 1988 she quit work to help care for her first grandchild and soon two other grandchildren.

     Survivors include her son, Kenneth and his wife, Jody McCutcheon of Canvas; daughter, Brenda Hughart of Upper Glade; grandchildren, Brittany and her husband, Zachary Leggett, Matthew and his wife, Briana Hughart, and Amber and her husband, Sawyer Lemon; four great grandchildren, Bryana Hughart, Brently Hughart, Brian Lemon, Lilly Leggett and her cat Kitty Cat; two brothers, Ray and his wife Judy Sparks and Randall and his wife Linda Sparks; one sister, Phyllis McClung.

     Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 24, 2023 in the White Funeral Home with Pastor Butch Collins officiating.  Interment will follow in the Walker Memorial Park at Summersville.

     Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday one-hour prior to the funeral services.

      In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
