Ellen Marie Bailes, 78, of Nettie, WV went to be with the Lord after a short illness on Friday, April 28, 2023 at the WVU-Ruby Memorial Hospital at Morgantown. She left this world surrounded by her family and at peace. Ellen was the daughter of the late Olaf and Olive Spencer of Nettie. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Sonny, Frank, and Roger.
Ellen was a cook for the school for many years in Nettie. Ellen loved her family with all her heart as they loved her. She volunteered at the local food pantry every week. She loved to decorate her yard for each holiday. She loved to read, go to yard sales, and play bingo. There is not a day that goes by that her family and friends won’t miss her and cherish the memories she created.
Ellen was the beloved wife of Webb Bailes for the past 60 years. Within those 60 years of life they created a large wonderful family together.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Webb; three sons and their wives, James Michael and Lesa Bailes of Pinehurst, NC, Jeffery Dale and Angela Bailes of Nettie, and Joseph Wayne and Marsha Bailes of Canvas; six grandchildren, Christopher Adam and his wife Kali Bailes of Nettie, Tonya Rhnea and her husband Stephen Fitts of West End, NC, Rebecca Marie Bailes of Southern Pines, NC, Michal Logan Bailes of Summersville, Tyler Dylan and his wife Jada Bailes of Bridgeport, and Morgan Riley Bailes of Canvas; five great grandchildren, Ryleigh RyAnn, Alexis Nicole, and Macy Lynn Bailes, all of Nettie, Henry Hunter and Emily Paige Fitts of West End, NC; beloved great nephew, who spent many years growing up in her care, Matthew David and his wife Ashley Spencer of Frankford; one sister, Virginia Mae Dotson of Kamiah, ID; one sister-in-law, Linda Spencer of Souderton, PA; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends to mourn her passing and will miss her so very much. She loved her whole family with all her heart and cared for them every day.
