Florence "Floss" Bryant

The incomparable and loved Florence Maryann Nicholson Bryant passed away early on the morning of May 26th in Tucson Arizona.  She was just shy of turning 101 on July 5th 2022 and in remarkably good health for a woman her age.  In early May she fell in her home and fractured a hip requiring surgery which though successful was traumatic and left her fighting pneumonia.  She was able to leave hospital and return home where she spent the last month of her life surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as her sister, friends, and nieces and nephews.  Throughout it all she remained as we knew her to be, full of life and loved all the time and attention she had with us during that time and true to her nature repeatedly told us how 'happy' she was!   She was however frustrated that no physical therapy was being scheduled, and was determined she could overcome the fracture by drawing once again on that spirit that had sustained her so often and for so long.  Given she was so fit and able, it was easy to forget she was in fact an Octogenarian who exceeded everyone's assumptions, particularly the medical profession who were repeatedly impressed by her stamina, her grit and charm. Over the course of her life she lived in many places, but had a deep love for Arizona and the heat of the desert.  Many wonderful friendships were created and sustained over the years as she always made good friends where ever she went and particularly while living in Summersville, W.V., as well as the years living on the western slopes of Colorado, the time spent in Northern Ontario or Bucks Co. Pennsylvania and of course Nebraska where she was born and raised.   In November she will be interred at St Mark's Methodist Church Memorial Garden in Tucson where she had been a member for over 30 years.  In our grief it is her spirit and strength that guide us through our loss.  She was a most exceptional woman who held us all in the arms of love and compassion.    We were blessed to have her in our lives.
