Helen Morris

     Kathryn Helen Morris, 84, of Summersville, WV passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2022 in the CAMC-Memorial Hospice Care Unit at Charleston.  Born December 23, 1937 at Back Fork, Webster County, she was a daughter of the late Everett and Lennie Starcher Ray.  She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Edith Catherine Morris.

     She was a member of the Summersville Baptist Church, was a former business owner, and a former employee at Community Action in Summersville.

     She was a Webster County High School majorette and after coming to Summersville she became a member of several clubs and organizations.  She was a member of the Summersville Archery Club and went on to become the 1963 Women’s National Archery Champion.  She was also a former member of the Summersville Women’s Club and bowled in a local bowling league for several years.  Later in life she became the president of the Nicholas County High School Band Boosters.

     Survivors include her children, Billie Morris and companion, Chuck of Fayetteville, Chilton Morris and his wife, Gail of Simpsonville, SC, and Wesley Morris of Summersville; one grandson, Christopher Morris of Fort Mill, SC.

     Friends may call at the White Funeral Home at Summersville on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m.  In keeping with her wish she will be cremated after the visitation.
