Heston (Curly) Hubbard Groves, 82 was born July 6, 1942 in Mt. Nebo, WV passed away on Monday, March 31, 2025 at his home. He was a son of the late Willie and Lowa Sebert Groves of Mt. Nebo. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Henry and Hershel Groves and a sister Hester Hellms.
He talked to everyone and never met a stranger. He was kind and generous and loved his family and his fur babies. We loved spending family time together playing cards or dominoes. He was employed by Sam Jack and Union Drilling in PA in his earlier years, which is how he met his wife Sara Vibbard Groves. They had many adventures together, traveling with his job. He had been home with his family for many years. He was a great cook and always made sure his family was taken care of.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Sara; sisters, Helen Dorsey, Holena (Frank) McBride, Hilma Rader; brother, Howard (Vivian) Groves; sons, John Groves, Robert (Jamie) Groves; daughters, Laura (Bobby) Moore and Valerie (David) Foltz; grandchildren, Adam, Derek, and Celeste Groves, Billy and Kristian Shutts, Courtnie Ball, David Morris, Robbie and Jayden Moore, Kaleb and Cody Hurd and several great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 12:00 (noon) on Saturday, April 26, 2025 in the Jordan Chapel United Methodist Church at Canvas with Pastor David Lancaster officiating. Arrangements were made with the White-Anderson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Summersville.
