Jack Dorsey

     Alfred Paul “Jack” Dorsey, 95, of Mt. Nebo, WV went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 17, 2023 at home with his three children..  Born September 2, 1927 at Meadow Bridge, he was a son of the late Alfred N. and Eunice Reynolds Dorsey. .  He was also preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Rose Vera Parsons Dorsey, a sister and her husband, Murielene and George Sausele, brothers, Alden and wife, Opal, Arlie and wife, Pearl, and Lovell and wife, Freda.

     Jack graduated from Nicholas County High in 1947, was a member of the Hickory Grove United Methodist Church at Mt. Nebo, was a US Army veteran of the Korean War, a recipient of the Purple Heart, and was very proud of his military service.  He was a former employee of the Mt. Nebo Garage for several years, Groves Dairy in Canvas, and he retired from the Corps of Engineers at the Summersville Dam.  Jack loved his family, his farm, and he had a lifelong love of horses.  He enjoyed reading his Bible, hunting and fishing, whitewater rafting, motorcycle riding, and anything that presented a challenge.  He was well known all over the country.

     He is survived by his children, Nancy (Jackie) Thomas, John (Kathy) Dorsey, and Joe (Katlyn) Dorsey; grandchildren are Jackie (Steffany) Thomas, II, Tracy Thomas, Amanda Dorsey, Greg (Samantha) Dorsey, and Jeremy (Jennifer) Dorsey, and Andrew Joseph Forron; great grandchildren, Jacob (Kasie) Willer, Dylan and Hannah Daniels, Mackenzie, Emma, and Max Thomas, Nicky Baldwin, Missy (Jerry) Cales, Brandon Cales, Jaden and Jonah Dorsey; great great grandchildren, Parker and Temperance, Elania, Jerred, Justin, Jaxon, Macie, Piper, Jay, and Esmae.

       Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2023 in the Hickory Grove United Methodist Church at Mt. Nebo with Pastor Sue Lowther officiating.  Interment with military rites will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of the White Funeral Home at Summersville.

     Friends may call at the church on Thursday from noon until time of services.
