Alex Jackson Cochran Jr. (Jackie), 66, of Summersville, WV graduated to glory on Saturday, October 12, 2024 in his home surrounded by family. Born April 9, 1958 in Beckley, WV, he was a son of Norma Lilly Cochran and the late Alex Jackson Cochran, Sr. of Webster Springs.
A devoted Christian, Jackie was welcomed by many churches to sing and play his guitar. He dedicated his life to the coal industry; operating his father’s trucking company, Jack’s Trucking, then later working as a mechanical foreman at a strip mine where he served as an EMT and specialized in reclamation. He was a proud Papaw to 5 grandchildren but his number one joy in life was his wife, Linda. They spent their days fishing, boating, kayaking, traveling or simply sitting in the rocking chairs on their porch drinking coffee together.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 39 years, Linda Cochran; daughter, Lindsey (Justin) Skidmore; son, Alex (Rachelle) Cochran, III; mother, Norma Cochran; siblings, Chuck (Donna) Cochran, Judy (John) Holle, Kevin (Karen) Cochran, and Kelly (Linda) Cochran; grandchildren, Sophie, Eliza, Jasper, Alex Jackson IV (Jax), and Abigail; cuddle-puppy, JJ, and a host of other family and friends.
The family will host a visitation on Thursday, October 17, 2024 from 4 to 6 p.m. at White-Anderson Funeral Home and Cremation Center at Summersville. Prayer and song will conclude the service at 6 p.m.
Immediately following, friends and family are invited to Brown Oaks in Summersville for food and fellowship. An ice cream social will end the evening in honor of Jackie and his favorite treat.
