James Elbert Harmon, Sr., 80, of Mt. Nebo, WV passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at the WVU-Summersville Regional Medical Center in Summersville. Born June 13, 1946 at War, WV, he was a son of the late George Elbert and Georgie Opal Christian Harmon. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Jacob Neff; two brothers, Sampson and Junior; and by three sisters, Pam, Darlene, and Karen.
He was a Baptist by faith, a US Army veteran during the Vietnam War a member of the 82nd Airborne Association, a retired coal miner, member of the UMWA, was on the mine rescue team for US Steel in Pineville, and the fire department team.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Patricia Harmon; son, James (Heather) Harmon, Jr. and his sister, Carol Kirk.; grandchildren, Jared and wife, Debra, James (Tyler) and wife, Destiny, and Jordan and wife, Maegan; great grandchildren, Braelyn, Damien, James (Kingston), Salem, and Oliver.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 10, 2026 at the White-Anderson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Summersville. Interment will follow in the Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA.
Friends may call at the funeral home one-hour prior to the funeral services on Friday.
