Johnie Annon Varner, Jr., 83, of Craigsville, WV passed away on Monday, June 8, 2026 in the Autumn Lake Healthcare Center at Elkins. Born April 29, 1943 at Bergoo, he was a son of the late Johnie Annon and Myrtle Crawford Varner, Sr. He was also preceded in death by a son, Richerd Varner; a stepson, Scott Monnett; a brother, Jimmy Varner; and a special friend, Johnny Doss.
He was a member of the Little Union Baptist Church at Calvin, was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War, was a retired coal miner, a member of the UMWA, and he loved to golf, fish, and hunt.
Survivors include his wife, Sharria Jean Gandee Varner; children, Teresa (Larry) Cassell of Canvas, Mike (Crystal) Varner of Citronelle, AL, Kenny (Tammy) Varner of Jane Lew, Terry (Debbie) Varner of Jane Lew, and James (Annie) Boggs of Mooresville, NC; stepchildren, Nena (Billy) Clayton of Yulee, FL, Rena (Jeff) Moles of Charleston, Freddie Monnett and Jamie Monnett, both of Craigsville; siblings, Mary (Larry) Clutter of Richwood, Judy (Herold) Friend of Richwood, Jerry (Gelida) Varner of Cowen, Jennings (Carol) Varner of Buckhannon, Shirley (Allen) Williams of Buffalo, and Joe Varner of Richwood; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In keeping with his wish he was cremated and a celebration of his life will be announced at a later date.
White-Anderson Funeral Home and Cremation Center at Summersville is in charge of the arrangements.
