Joseph Alfred Caldwell, 84, of Summersville, WV went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 3, 2026 after a lengthy health struggle. Born May 2, 1941 at Montgomery, WV, he was the son of the late Alfred B. and Lourie Hanson Caldwell. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Betty Daniels.
He attended Calvary Baptist Church in Summersville; he served in the Navy for nine years and one year in the Army National Guard. He went on to work in the shipyards, drove trucks, and was a coalminer. He was a very honorable man and was a friend to everyone.
Survivors include his wife, Stephanie; children, Tracy (Anthony) Ramsey, Joseph Caldwell, Jr., Laney (Jeff) Hoffman; stepdaughter, Alissa Pottorff; sisters, Norma Parker, Jan (Pete) Sigler, Mary Ann Holt; many grandchildren and great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2026 in the Calvary Baptist Church at Summersville with Pastor Ryan Trescott officiating.
