Karen Louise Dotson of Summersville passed away January 10, 2026 in Morgantown WV. Karen was born May 25, 1943 in Summersville, WV. She was preceded in death by her parents Dexter and Irene Dotson, and her brother Gerald E. Dotson. Karen attended Glenville State College and Marshall University, before pursuing a decades-long career as a teacher in Wood County WV, retiring from Mineral Wells Elementary School.
Active in United Methodist Churches in Wood and Nicholas counties (member of Memorial United Methodist Church, Summersville), Karen participated in choir and hand bell choir. Karen was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa, Pi Chapter (an honorary teachers sorority), as well as the National Education Association/WV Education Association. Karen enjoyed bowling; playing Scrabble; as well as participating in the Nicholas County Historical and Genealogical Society. Karen was devoted to her parents, and she loved spending time with her nephews.
She is survived by her nephews Eric (Michelle) and Matthew (Julie) Dotson, sister-in-law Barbara Dotson, great-nieces Brenna and Olivia Dotson, and great-nephew Ethan Dotson. Karen was loved very much and will be missed by all.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2026 in the Memorial United Methodist Church at Summersville with Pastor Dan Lowther officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church one-hour prior to the memorial services.
White-Anderson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Summersville is in charge of the arrangements.
