After a long sickness, Kenny finished his earthly race on 1/17/2024 at Genesis Ansted Center. Today we rejoice in the fact he is face to face with Jesus his Lord and Savior. He now has a strong perfect body and is reunited with so many dear friends and loved ones. Proceeding in death is his Mom, Ethel Chapman, Dad, John Chapman, brother in law Steve Thomas, sister in law Diane Chapman and his granddaughter Kiersten Alexander McGraw.
Surviving is his wife Kay Amick Chapman, daughters Lisa Bailes *Roy, Heather (Josh, Sawyer & Dawson), Jeff (Andrea)*Lori Carden *Kevin, Jeremiah (Danielle, John Tyler & Oaklee), Zach, Makayla & Makenna (Evan)*Lois McGraw (Cole and Clinton), brother, Keith Chapman and sisters, Judy Thomas & Nancy McMillion (Greg). He also loved many nieces and nephews.
Kenny was quite a character and loved by many in their home town of Nettie WV. He was a manager for Westmoreland Coal Company. Kenny fought a very long battle with his health but never gave up and when he was told he couldn’t do something, his response was “sit back and watch me”.
Kenny was a jokester and loved to pester everyone in reach. If you knew Kenny, at some point, he likely nearly broke your fingers with his strong handshake, gave you a knuckle sandwich or hugged you so hard you couldn’t breathe.
Mostly Kenny loved Jesus. He always took every opportunity he could to testify how good God was to him and how undeserving he was. He rarely missed a church service and was a proud member of Olive Branch Baptist Church in Nettie.
He had a wonderful staff at the Genesis Ansted Center that took care of him for the past 5 years. He enjoyed giving them a hard time there as well.
As believers in Jesus Christ, we know we will see Kenny again in Heaven. Until we meet again, we love you and look forward to the day we are reunited.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at the Olive Branch Baptist Church at Nettie with Pastor Stewart Stover officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery at Nettie under the direction of the White Funeral Home at Summersville.
Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service.
