Lemon Jacob Bennett of Oak Hill, WV passed away surrounded by family on Friday, August 6th at the Summersville Memorial Hospital of a chronic illness he bravely battled for many years. Born April 5th, 1928 in Pool, WV to the late Bernard Cleveland and Mary (Humphries) Bennett. He was also predeceased by four sisters and eight brothers. Lemon was a retiree of Eastman Kodak Company in Rochester, NY. He is survived by his other half of 67 years, Jessie (Dawe) Bennett; two daughters Pamela (Christopher) Moynier and Valarie (Thomas) Sylvester; grandchildren Anita (Darrell) Cartwright, Steven Moynier, Clara Perryman, Terry (Ashley) Sylvester, Rodney (Tim) Moynier, Pamela Moynier/Steven Blalock, 6 great grandchildren; beloved sister-in-law and insult banter-buddy Frances Fix a.k.a. ‘Gravel Gurtie’. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as his two “poo-dells” Coco and Cody whom he spoiled daily. Lemon, Jake to friends and family, was a U.S. Army veteran and proudly served his country in Korea. Jake was a devoted, hard-working husband and father who took pride in being so. Always busy with a project but never too busy to help family, friends or neighbors. He was a fierce card player and rarely missed an opportunity to beat you in a game of Setback or Canasta, with a twinkle in his eye. In his earlier years, he was an avid coon hunter (loved his Black and Tan hounds), fisherman and all-around outdoorsman. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 9, 2021 in the White Funeral Home at Summersville with Pastor Aaron Evans officiating. Interment will follow in the Walker Memorial Park at Summersville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday one-hour prior to the funeral services.
