Margaret “Eloise” Amick, 98, of Mt. Nebo, passed away peacefully on Friday (January 19, 2024) in The Villages, FL. She was born on July 23, 1925 in Russellville, WV, the daughter of Clace C. and Mabel Carmichael Moore.
She was a graduate of Nuttall High School and went to Baltimore, Maryland to work for the Social Security Board during World War II. She married Avra Amick of Runa, WV on March 27, 1947 in Titusville, PA. They made their home in Kennedy, NY for more than 50 years until his death in 2003.
Eloise was a lifelong Methodist and in recent years had made her home with her daughter and son-in-law in Mt. Nebo, WV and The Villages, FL.
She is survived by one daughter, Pamela and her husband John Klawitter; one granddaughter, Sarah Marks, two great-grandchildren, Emma Marks and Andrew Marks, all of Annandale, VA; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mabel and Clace; her brother, Kenneth Dale Moore and her husband, Avra. A private burial will be held at a later date in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Runa, West Virginia.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the Pleasant Hill Methodist Church in Runa or Bays Chapel Community Church in Nallen.
