Marilyn Goodenow of Summersville went to be with loved ones in the Lord’s presence on January 19, 2022.  She died of heart failure after a short stay in Summersville Regional Medical Center.      She was born to Stuart and Mary Louise Nutter King on April 2, 1947 in Montgomery, WV.   Her twin, Carolyn Vago died in Oct. 2009.   Besides her parents and twin sister, Marilyn was predeceased by her husband of 37 years, Robert Goodenow, sister Carol Ann King, and nephew Jason Stuart Jordan.

Marilyn graduated Nicholas County High School in 1965 and Grace Hospital School of Nursing in Detroit in 1969.  She worked as a surgical, OB, and ER nurse in Michigan for 21 years before returning to West Virginia .  She was employed at Summersville Memorial Hospital as OR manager for 11 ½ years before retiring due to health issues.  Nursing was a most rewarding profession for her, providing great joy in her life second only to her family.  She loved her patients and coworkers.   After her Nursing career, Marilyn worked as a volunteer receptionist for 7 years for Losch and McCourt Law office.

Marilyn never ended friendships.  She had many friends from Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in St. Clair Shores, Michigan.  Marilyn was a long time member of Summersville Memorial United Methodist Church where she was active as a child and teenager, and again after returning to her home town in 1990, singing in the choir, leading the Youth Group, attending Sunday School and
Worship faithfully.
