Martha Ellen (Rudd) Stevens

Martha Ellen (Rudd) Stevens of Summersville, WV passed away after complications from a sudden illness on March 2 , 2022 at Ruby Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was 68.

      Martha was a loving wife, mother and memaw who loved everyone in her family unconditionally. Martha especially loved spending time with her grandson Zachary Stevens and was excitedly looking forward to becoming a memaw again to Charles Dayton Robertson. She always said “Memaws are the best!,” and that she was! Martha was fun-loving and full of life, and enjoyed spending most of her time outdoors, whether that was at the lake, the beach, walking, or riding her bicycle with her husband, Chuck. She also had an eye for photography and always loved capturing “God’s beautiful masterpiece,” as she would say. Martha had a sharp wit, quick smile, and infectious laugh that was well known by all who knew her.

      Martha owned Stevens Carpet Cleaners of Summersville, and after 30 years she retired in 2009. She was also a homemaker while not attending the business. Martha was a member of Mountain State Baptist Church, where she dedicated many years of service to the church and the Christian school. She loved the Lord with all her heart and soul.

      Martha was predeceased by her mother, Deloris Rudd, and father, Clifford Rudd. She was predeceased by her siblings, Leah Rudd Radcliff, Evelyn Springs, Sam Rudd, Roy Rudd, Caroline Rudd, and James Rudd.

      Martha is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Chuck Stevens; her son and daughter-in-law, Matt and Michale Stevens; her daughter and son-in-law, Kerri and Lance Robertson; her grandson Zachary Stevens, and soon to be grandson, Charles Dayton Robertson. She is also survived by her siblings; Doris Young, Vernon (Geri) Rudd, Janice (Bob) Ewers, Paul (Hattie) Rudd, Becky (Bill) Shaeffer, Johnny (Lucinda) Rudd, Mike (Robin) Rudd, Mary Cogar, Veronica (Bruce) Arnold, and her twin brother Martin (Gayle) Rudd.

      Martha will be deeply missed, but we know she is in the arms of Jesus.

      Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at the White Funeral Home in Summersville with Pastor Mark Secrist officiating.  Interment will follow in the Wallace Memorial Cemetery in Clintonville, WV.  Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
