Paul Hampton Baughman, Sr., 93, of Birch River, WV passed away on Monday, March 24, 2025 in the Bower’s Hospice House at Beckley. Born November 22, 1931 at Widen, Clay County, WV, he was a son of the late Flavy and Chessie Hamrick Baughman. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Lillie Mae Baughman; his son, Paul Baughman, Jr.; and a great grandson, Isaiah Pritt.
He was a retired coal miner, a member of the UMWA, and he retired having worked for Sewell Coal Company. He was famous for making homemade ramp hoes. He loved working in his shop making things during his retirement. He was the last surviving sibling of his immediate family.
Survivors include one son, Johnny (Tina) Baughman of Birch River; five grandchildren, Erin Sargent, Tara Swaringen, Alex Baughman, Elgin Baughman, and Emily Johnson; 12 great grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2025 in the White-Anderson Funeral Home and Cremation Center at Summersville with Pastor Linn Schiefer officiating. Private burial will follow at a later date.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday one-hour prior to the funeral services.
