Retha Arlene Thomas

     Retha Arlene Thomas, 74, of Hurricane, formerly of Nicholas and Kanawha Counties, WV passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2021.  Born November 11, 1947 at Mt. Nebo, she was a daughter of the late Hubert and Rhoda Thomas Dooley.  She was also preceded in death by her son, Larry Stephen Hicks, Jr. and siblings, Eldon, Harold, Arlie, Edna, Velda, and Louise.

     She was a retired employee of WVU Physicians with 28 years of service and also retired from WV Division of Motor Vehicles with 9 years of service.  She loved to sew, crafting, and cooking and was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother.

     Survivors include her husband, Myrland Lee Thomas; children, Angela (Stephen) Johns, Arlene Moore, and William (Sumer) Moffatt; daughter-in-law, Terry Hicks; siblings, Darla Rader, Ruth Gwinn, Gerald Dooley, and David Dooley; six grandchildren, Kristina Moore, Ian (Wendy) Moore, Dustin (Brittany) Johns, Hunter Moffatt, Dylan Moore, and Kayla Moffatt; five great grandchildren, Sophia, Addisyn, Isaiah, Brilynn, and Ian, II.

     Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 27, 2021 in the Hickory Grove United Methodist Church at Mt. Nebo with Pastor Sue Lowther officiating.

     The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday one-hour prior to the funeral services.

     White Funeral Home at Summersville is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
