Scotty Lee Chapman, 47, of Cottle, WV passed away on Friday, May 28, 2021 at Hospice at CAMC-Memorial in Charleston due to long term health complications from surgery. Born October 24, 1973 at Charleston, he was a son of Betty Kay Chapman of Craigsville and the late Roger Lee Chapman. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Henry and Leah Chapman and maternal grandparents, Clarence B. and Jerlie Mae Baire. Scotty leaves behind his wife, Lucena Overbaugh Chapman; three children, Elizabeth Lee Ann, Jerlie Kay, and Roger Scott Chapman; four grandchildren, Jayce Lee, Jayana Kay, Jackstyn Jessie, and Jerlie Jaslene; two brothers and a host of other family members and friends. Scotty loved spending time outdoors in nature with his family. He loved fishing, camping, hiking, archaeology, four wheeling, and hunting. He also loved Herpetology and worked with venomous snakes for educational purposes and governmental studies, and how humans medically benefited from snake’s venom. He loved woodworking and scroll sawing. He enjoyed taking photographs of nature and wildlife. In keeping with Scotty’s wish he will be cremated and a private service will be held with his family at his favorite place located in Nature.
