Shirley Wine Obituary

Shirley Ann Wine, age 73 of Craigsville, WV gained her angel wings and left this earthly world on Sunday June 14, 2020 after long brave and heroic battles with several extensive health issues that made her a true HERO. She was an individual who found the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles. Her quality of life and strength lived with tenderness is an unbeatable combination, why she was often referred to as a "walking medical wonder." Shirley was born on December 04, 1946 in Butler, PA to the late Jesse ",James" Skidmore of Webster Springs, and the late Ruby Levinoun Thompson of Craigsville, WV. She married the love of her life, Paul Edwin Wine, in September of 1965, who preceded her in death on January 10, 2010. She is also preceded in death by one Sister, Frankie Skeens Cochran from Webster Springs. After raising her family, Shirley at the age of 42 went on to achieve her life long dream of furthering her education to become a teacher. She graduated with Magna Cum Lauda honors from Glenville State College in May of 1993. She obtained a (K-12) double major in Social Studies and Business Principles plus a certificate in English earning her a Bachelor of Arts in Education degree. She was a member of Lambda Lambda Lambda sorority. Although her health kept her from working outside the home, she was determined it didn't stop her from sharing her love of knowledge and love of education. She always said, "You are never too old to learn!" Shirley was also a woman of several different talents that never ceased to amaze all who knew her. Her proudest and most cherished accomplishments were her children and grandchildren. She constantly reminded everyone they are her true legacies! She never met a stranger and all who entered her life and home became family and friends. She is survived by her Son, William "Eddie" Wine and wife Christy of Summersville, WV; a daughter, Paula A Lilly and husband, Edward of O'Fallen, IL; her youngest Daughter, Levinoun "Janie" Wine Gray at home in Craigsville, WV; Son-in-law, Michael E Gray of Clarksburg, WV; Son/Grandson Jason-Paul Edwin Wine (JP) at home in Craigsvffle, WV; adopted Son/Nephew Timothy H (Timmy) Wine, of OH; and adopted Son/Nephew Scott Wine, of OH. She was a wonderful loving Mamaw who cherished her six grandchildren, Ciera N. Wine, Kalyssa T. Wine, "JP" Jason-Paul Wine, Felicia D'Ann Gray, Karisala K. Lilly, and Katealia K. Lilly. She is also survived by her brothers, Paul "Bub" Thompson Jr. of Craigsville, WV; John A. Thompson of Craigsville, WV; and Jesse Skidmore,(Kim) of Webster Springs, WV; along with her Sisters, Karen Ramsey, (Richard) of Craigsville, WV; Jeannie Isolato, (Joseph) of Silver Springs, MD; and several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and many more she called family. Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, June 19, 2020 at the WV Memorial Gardens at Calvin with Pastor Eddie Lay officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of the White Funeral Home at Summersville. Friends may call on Friday at the White Funeral Home in Summersville from 11:30 to 12:30.
