Sylvia Jean Hughes

Sylvia Jean Hughes, 84, of Summersville passed away at home on Sunday, September 12, 2021.  Born July 20, 1937 in Persinger, WV, she was a daughter of the late Homer and Carolyn McKinney White.  She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Charles White and James McKinney; sister, Pauline Music.

     She was a member of the Summersville Nazarene Church and was a former housekeeper for various hotels in Summersville.

     Survivors include two sons, Michael Wayne Short of Summersville and Steven Allan Short of OH; one daughter, Brenda Sue Virgilio of OH; three sisters, Hazel Grey, Anna Dorsey, and Betty Morris; several grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and a host of other family and friends.

     Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 16, 2021 in the White Funeral Home at Summersville with Pastor Angie Wilson officiating.  Interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery at Glade Creek.

     Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services.
