Thomas Max Walker, 82, of Nettie, WV passed away at his home on Monday, February 21, 2022. Born October 14, 1939 at Richwood, WV, he was a son of the late Thomas Mac and Lillian Virginia Roop Walker. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Michael Roop Walker; sister-in-law, Karen White Walker.
He was a member of the Olive Branch Baptist Church at Nettie, was a former coal miner and was a retired business manager for Morrison-Knudsen. He loved flying, was a private pilot, felt closer to God when he was in the air and could think more clearly there, loved to build model airplanes and loved the outdoors and was the greatest thunderstorm runner of them all.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Fields Walker; two daughters, Joy Walker and husband, Paul Johnson, Debbie Thompson and husband Dennis; two grandsons, Travis Max (Kim) Thompson and Tyler Thompson; two great grandchildren, Thomas Michael Thompson and Ellie Thompson; two nieces, Kara and Greg Bowles and Kama and Scott Summers; two great nieces and one great nephew; and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at the Olive Branch Baptist Church in Nettie with Pastor Stuart Stover officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery under the direction of the White Funeral Home at Summersville.
Friends and family may call on Friday, February 25, 2022 at the Olive Branch Baptist Church from 6-8 PM.
