William “Joe” Groves passed away on December 16, 2021. Joe was born in Richwood, WV on August 20, 1960 to the late Dana Watt and Betty Gale Groves. He was a member of the Summersville United Methodist Church.
Joe was the strength, humor and warmth of our family.
Joe graduated from Nicholas County High School in 1978. He was a Scottish Rite 32nd Degree Mason and Beni Kedem Shriner; member and Past Master of the Summersville Masonic Lodge #76, Nicholas Shrine Club, Shriner Motor Corps, and Eastern Star, holding leadership roles in all organizations. Joe’s career included roles as a salesman, school bus driver, and small business owner.
Preceded in death was his sister Linda Ellison Luger.
Surviving is his wife of 43 years Annie Groves and their son William “LJ” Groves, II and his wife Jennifer; daughter Josie Ann Groves; and three grandchildren Aubree, Liam and Harper. Additional survivors include his brothers Larry (Leola) Ellison, Dana Mike (Mona) Groves, Bobby (Greta) Groves and sister Sherry Miller. He was beloved by several nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, December 19, 2021 in the White Funeral Home at Summersville with Pastor Philip Wilson officiating. Interment with Masonic Graveside Rites will follow in the Walker Memorial Park at Summersville.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday one-hour prior to the funeral services.
